We had the morning free. The hotel was interesting – unique layouts and room numbering. Very family friendly and a family-run business. Jim attended church with Bruna. We then took the bus to Santa Margharita’s Tennis Club. We thought we were late for a match, but it didn’t end up happening because of weather. We enjoyed a buffet lunch in the company of Rotarians and Tennis club members. I think the club had the largest percentage of English-speakers we’d encountered at once, so the many hosts that joined us for the day could all converse with us.

We journeyed on to Portofino with a packed bus and accompanying cars. We wandered the Portofino harbor, gazing out at the many, many pristine yachts. We were a long, strung-out pack strung amongst the many other tourists. We looked at the expensive shops, wandered up the hill to the cemetery, hiked along the wooded path to the promontory, and finished up with gelato in the square, watching a huge wedding party taking photos. Stephanie’s camera was stolen there, our only loss of the trip.

We were dropped off at the Santa Margharita harbor and walked leisurely back to the tennis club for dinner. Weather had cleared and we played tennis while waiting for dinner. Although a proper dinner with many Rotarians and a banner exchange, on the holiday weekend.
